About
I’m Jim Fenton, a networking technologist based in Silicon Valley. I’m married and have one daughter who works in the costume shop of the Dartmouth College Department of Theater. I like to write about travel, solar power and power conservation, bicycling, and related topics.
I also sometimes write about topics related to my professional work. I am a consultant for the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland, assisting with the revision of some of their identity-related standards. I am also a participant and working group chair at the Internet Engineering Task Force, focusing primarily on internet messaging.
My hobbies include amateur radio (primarily CW operation and local emergency preparedness), genealogy, bicycling, and I have recently taken up curling.
I post to this blog at somewhat irregular intervals, when I have something to say or something to vent about. So don’t expect to see things all the time.
